Botanic

Gardens are kind of a dreamspace. It is natural, but it is not as nature would present it. The lines may be too smooth, the corners just so. Plants are placed on purpose, not by the accidents of winds, fires, or other natural forces (though they too are accounted for in the garden). The Chicago Botanic Garden is a wonderful place in which nature is sculpted.

This photo series, which I'm calling "Botanic," presents an experience of the garden in that dream-like state.

This project was originally going to be a photo book, but the images wound up being developed a little... weird. I'm not totally sure where I went wrong, but it wasn't quite the look I was going for. However, there was enough that I liked that I'm going to turn it into a photo essay.
