The source code to the 3DO port of Doom has been released and with it, an explanation by programmer Rebecca Ann Heineman.
The explanation is necessary because the 3DO port of Doom is perhaps as notorious as the Atari 2600 version of Pac-man. In both instances underpowered hardware, and an incredibly short development time combined to provide embarrassing results.
It is worth noting that, despite all the technical issues with Doom for 3DO, the music was recorded by a live band and is, for Doom fans, probably one of the best renditions of that portion of the game.
